Job summary

Red Bull Technology Group is offering a one-year placement for undergraduates in the F1 Electronics Team on Milton Keynes campus. You will gain exposure to Formula 1 engineering and operations, supporting Trackside functions, and helping to configure and test our fleet of race and test cars, plus factory dynos and rig test systems.

You will work with experienced Electronics Support Engineers, receive training in Car Data Analysis and ECU systems, and be prepared for hands-on tasks while

Qualifications

• Currently studying an Electrical/ Electronics degree or a Mechanical/Controls/ Motorsports degree, preferably with an interest in Electronics.
• You must be returning to university to study for at least 1 year after the placement year.
• Previous competitive Motorsport experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Configure and set up F1 electronics and off-car systems.
• Analyse data from electronics and electro-mechanical systems on cars and test rigs.
• Reference loom drawings, system diagrams, embedded software models and car build docs.
• Diagnose faults on sensors, actuators and systems and assist in fault resolution.
• Use a wide range of test and garage equipment as required.
• Support Remote Operations Room during track events.
• Assist in general workshop and car build tasks.

Job description

Red Bull Technology have an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students to spend a year as part of ourF1 Electronics Team. The placements will run from the summer of 2027 for one year and offer the opportunity to demonstrate your enthusiasm and apply your knowledge in an open and dynamic environment.

Based on our Milton Keynes campus, this exciting placement opportunity will give you full exposure to real Formula 1 engineering and operations. Working closely with the Trackside Support functions of the department, you’ll be helping to setup and support our fleet of F1 Race, Test and Heritage cars, and our Factory dynos and Rig Test systems, to meet the requirements of our Trackside teams, and other functions across the business.

The main accountabilities of the role are:

• F1 Electronics and off-car systems configuration and setup
• Data analysis of electronics and electro-mechanical systems operations, of both cars and test rigs
• Understanding and referencing loom and sensor drawings, system diagrams, embedded software models, car build documentation, operational procedures, IT documentation, and 3D CAD models.
• Diagnosing and reporting faults on sensors, actuators and systems, and assisting in fault resolution.
• The use of a wide range of test and garage equipment as required.
• Assisting, where required, in Remote Operations Room support of track events.
• Assisting, where required, in all general workshop and car build tasks.
• You should also be prepared to carry out hands‑on tasks.

You will be supported by experienced Electronics Support Engineers in our Race, Test, Factory and Heritage Show Car operations as required. Car Data Analysis and Electronics Control Unit systems training will be provided.

The successful student will be studying towards an Electrical / Electronics degree or a Mechanical, Controls, Motorsports, or other applicable Engineering degree (preferably with an interest in Electronics) and be highly computer literate. You must be returning to university to study for at least 1 year after your placement year.It will be advantageous if applicants can demonstrate any previous competitive Motorsport experience.

The placement will be for 1 year, starting in the summer of 2027.
