Job summary

Vax, backed by TTI, is rebuilding its UK innovation function. We seek an Electronics Engineering Manager to set the electrical direction for next-generation products from Droitwich, Worcestershire, with autonomy to build your own team.

You will lead advanced development electrical work from a standing start, define architecture and roadmaps, and drive sensors, motor control and power electronics. You will prototype hands-on and manage supplier relationships, with occasional overseas travel.

Qualifications

• A degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent, BEng or above.
• Depth in sensors, motor control and/or power electronics with hands-on prototyping.
• Experience leading a technical team or ready to step up.
• Hands-on supplier engagement and site visits, including overseas travel.
• Founding seat to build and lead a new team from scratch.

As Electronics Engineering Manager at Vax, you set the electrical direction for the next generation of products from Droitwich, Worcestershire, with full autonomy to build your own team from scratch.

Scope of the Role

As Electronics Engineering Manager, you lead Vax's advanced development electrical work from a standing start, building the technical direction and the team together.

• Set the electrical architecture and technology roadmap for the next generation of Vax products.
• Drive sensor, motor control and power electronics development as the technical core of the role.
• Build and test proof of concepts and demonstrators yourself, hands on at the bench.
• Lead supplier technical relationships, including site visits and occasional overseas travel.
• Recruit, build and mentor a new in house Advanced Electrical Engineering team from scratch.

Key Skills and Experience Required

• A degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent, BEng or above.
• Extensive experience in electronics and embedded systems, with depth in at least two of sensors, motor control and power electronics.
• A proven track record of hands on prototyping, building and testing proof of concepts rather than only reviewing others' work.
• Experience leading a technical team, or a senior Electronics Engineering Manager ready to step up.
• Practical, hands on supplier engagement, running the technical relationship rather than just sending a spec.
• Occasional travel, including supplier visits and some overseas trips
• A founding seat, building and leading your own team from scratch
• Four days a week on site in Droitwich, Worcestershire, in a fast, hands on environment
