Job summary

An electronics engineer is sought to design high‑speed analogue and digital boards for production in a global technology company with a Cambridgeshire quantum research centre. You will compile requirements, create schematics and BOMs, perform board bring‑up and debugging with the embedded software team, and develop test hardware for development and production.

Proficiency in Altium, high‑speed analog/digital design, SPICE simulation, and hands‑on experience with microprocessors, FPGAs or SoCs,

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.

• Create and review schematics, BOMs and multilayer PCB layouts
• Do board bring-up, debugging and integration testing with the embedded software team
• Develop test hardware and procedures for development and production

Are you an electronics engineer who enjoys designing high-speed analogue and digital boards and taking them all the way through to production?

My client is a global technology company with a quantum technology research centre in Cambridgeshire. Their quantum communication systems are already deployed in secure fibre networks across the UK, Europe, the US and Japan. This is a hands‑on role where you’ll design the electronics at the heart of their next generation of secure communication products.

• Compile requirements and technical specs for new broadband analogue and digital circuits
• Create and review schematics, BOMs and multilayer PCB layouts
• Do board bring‑up, debugging and integration testing with the embedded software team
• Develop test hardware and procedures for development and production
• Liaise with PCB fabrication and assembly houses
• Degree in Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
• Proficient in PCB design and layout (Altium preferred), high‑speed digital and analogue circuit design, low noise power supply design and SPICE simulation.
• Hands‑on design of microprocessor, FPGA or SoC based systems, including high‑speed memory and interfaces.
• Strong troubleshooting with lab equipment, and experience taking hardware from concept through to volume manufacture.
• Nice to have: SI/PI simulation, EMC, optoelectronics or communications industry experience.
