Job summary

Ecm Selection in Cambridge is seeking a senior electronics engineer to lead high-performance board-level design and contribute to FPGA/ASIC development. The role is hands-on and product-focused, with opportunities for technical leadership on ongoing and future projects.

You will work on digital design, SI analyses with Altium and HyperLynx, and collaborate across RF, DSP and embedded software domains. Mostly onsite, with occasional home working when possible, and a competitive package.

Qualifications

• Degree in electronics or physics; PhD preferred.
• Significant experience in digital design for high-performance board-level electronics; some FPGA/ASIC design; verification using Verilog.
• Experience with Altium for PCB design and HyperLynx or similar for signal integrity analyses.
• Experience with RF, DSP, embedded software and DOORS for requirements management; knowledge of C++, Python, Tcl desirable.

Job description

Based in their offices and facilities in Cambridge, this engineering team work with partner companies to provide technical expertise and resources to develop solutions within communications-based electronics. Their innovations can be found in scientific instrumentation, satellite phone sets, voice detection systems and communications within robotics. They have repeatedly proven themselves with technologies used in both cellular and private networks, and look to deliver next-generation products.

The team are looking to recruit a senior level engineer to provide additional expertise and resources for on-going and future projects. Key aspects will include high-performance board level electronics design, and to a lesser degree FPGA and ASIC development. This will encompass a full range of digital electronics including PCB and FPGA design. Further, due to the complexities involved in their products, it is not uncommon that their electronics utilises signal processing, AI, RF and software components. This is very much a hands-on role, but there are opportunities for project technical leadership if you want this.

Requirements:

• You will have a degree in electronics or physics and possibly a relevant PhD (preferred).
• Your project experience will include substantial work around digital design for high-performance board level electronics, and some exposure to FPGA and ASIC design including verification using Verilog.
• Your general digital design experience with electronics should include the use of Altium (PCB design) and HyperLynx (signal integrity analyses) or similar.
• Additional experience with radio frequency systems, DSP, embedded software and / or requirements management using DOORS would be beneficial. Further experience with C++, VHDL, Python and Tcl would be desirable.
