Job description

Our client is a technology-oriented company developing advanced quantum networking hardware and photonic technologies for next-generation quantum computing systems. The organization develops highly integrated engineering solutions designed to improve the scalability, performance, and practical deployment of quantum information systems.

Its activities combine electronics, photonics, physics, nanofabrication, mechanical engineering, software, and FPGA development within a highly multidisciplinary environment. The company operates from early-stage concepts and circuit development through laboratory testing, system integration, and prototype deployment, offering engineers the opportunity to work on technically demanding hardware at the forefront of quantum technology.

Mission

The Electronics Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and validating high-performance analogue and mixed-signal electronics for advanced quantum networking systems. The role will translate demanding technical requirements into robust circuit and PCB designs, progressing solutions from initial calculations and simulation through prototype manufacture, laboratory testing, debugging, and integration into wider hardware platforms.

Responsibilities
Electronics Design and Development
  • Liaise with engineers and scientists across multiple technical disciplines to refine requirements and specifications for electronic systems.
  • Perform circuit design calculations and simulations and select suitable electronic components and laboratory equipment.
  • Produce high-quality electronic schematics, system designs, and PCB layouts.
Prototype Development and Testing
  • Coordinate the manufacture and assembly of electronic prototypes.
  • Perform hands‑on testing, debugging, and iterative improvement of complex electronic and optical setups.
  • Analyse experimental results and measurement data to assess performance against technical requirements.
System Integration and Collaboration
  • Support the integration of electronic designs with optical, mechanical, FPGA, software, and other hardware subsystems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and scientific teams to ensure complex electronic systems operate as intended.
  • Support the deployment and use of electronic systems across wider development activities.
Engineering Documentation and Technical Support
  • Maintain accurate design records, test results, and engineering documentation throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement of electronic hardware.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams using developed electronic systems.
Required Qualifications
  • Degree‑level qualification in electronics, physics, or a closely related discipline.
  • Industry experience or a PhD involving analogue electronic design.
  • Experience designing PCBs, including design for manufacture and reliability considerations.
  • Experience using electronic and/or electromagnetic simulation tools.
  • Hands‑on laboratory experience using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and comparable electronic test equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams while working toward demanding technical specifications.
Preferred Experience
  • Understanding of high‑frequency and RF circuit design principles.
  • Ability to solder and rework high‑density PCBs.
  • Experience integrating multiple electronic sub‑assemblies into complete systems.
  • Experience with engineering tools such as Altium Designer, LTSpice, and Keysight ADS.
  • Understanding of noise sources and noise behaviour in electronic circuits.
