Job summary

Elastic Ltd in the Cambridge area is seeking an experienced Electronics & Embedded Software Engineer to join a growing R&D team focused on design, development and improvement of electronic products and embedded control systems.

You will contribute across the full product lifecycle from concept through testing and production, applying your electronics design, PCB layout and motor drive experience with hands-on testing and collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience in electronics engineering or embedded systems.
• Degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related subject.
• Strong embedded programming experience using C/C++.
• Experience in electronic circuit design, schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Proficiency with PCB design software such as Altium Designer, Cadence or OrCAD.
• Motor drive / motor control experience is essential.
• Experience with BLDC motors is advantageous.
• Experience developing embedded control systems.
• Knowledge of wireless technologies including Bluetooth and GNSS.
• Hands-on experience using oscilloscopes, multimeters and electronic test equipment.
• Strong electronic fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret circuit diagrams, schematics and technical documentation.
• Good communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic circuits, schematics and PCB layouts.
• Develop, test and maintain embedded software using C/C++.
• Support motor control and motor drive systems development.
• Develop new electronic products and improve existing designs.
• Produce BOMs and support component sourcing.
• Undertake electronic testing, debugging and fault-finding.
• Collaborate with mechanical, software and wider engineering teams.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and design specs.
• Support product development from concept to testing and deployment.
• Ensure designs meet safety, quality and performance requirements.
