Job summary

Well-Safe Solutions seeks an Electronic Technician to monitor and maintain MODU E&I systems and assist with electrical systems onboard. You will plan preventative and corrective maintenance, manage alarms, and coordinate priorities with the Senior Electrician and other departments.

You will ensure CMMS records, backups, and safe handovers while promoting ongoing improvements and competency across the Electrical Team.

Qualifications

• Valid UK survival mandatory training.
• Qualification or technical accreditation in electrical/electronic/instrumentation.
• Completion of offshore Electronic Technician training and certification as per company matrix.
• Degree or higher education in electrical, electronic or instrumentation discipline.
• About 2 years of MODU drilling operations experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and monitor MODU E&I and related electrical systems.
• Plan and perform preventative and corrective maintenance, including breakdowns.
• Manage alarm logs and ensure correct set points and history in CMMS.
• Coordinate with Senior Electrician and department heads on priorities.
• Ensure software backups, system improvements, and accurate handovers.

Job description

The location of work is on board a Mobile Offshore Drilling Unit, may be required to work at other company locations or suppliers' premises as required.

The postholder must be able to attend our global headquarters in Aberdeen.

Reporting Line:

The Electronic Technician will report directly to the Senior Electrician.

Role:

The Electronic Technician will Monitor and maintain the integrity of all MODU Electronic and instrumentation systems E&I whilst assisting with electrical systems. Responsible for planning and performing preventative and corrective maintenance including breakdowns and improvements affecting all E&I equipment onboard as well as electrical systems when required.

Key responsibilities:

The Electronic Technician will be required to:

• Maintain an adequate supply of spares to fulfil maintenance requirements and facilitate a safe and efficient operation.
• Monitor system alarm logs looking for anomalies; disabled, acknowledged and active alarms as well as ensuring alarm set points are correct.
• When applicable complete work tasks delegated by the Senior Electrician.
• Discuss, and agree critical maintenance priorities with Senior Electrician and other department heads.
• Communicate equipment issues or breakdown information to Senior Electrician, Maintenance Supervisor, OIM and affected department heads.
• Perform electrical and electronic isolations/deisolation's requested from other departments or delegated by the Senior Electrician.
• Ensure an accurate historical record of all E&I maintenance, repair and equipment change out is captured with in the companies CMMS.
• Ensure software backups are taken, stored securely and available when required.
• Maintain regular communication with shore-based management and support group.
• Implement follow-up requirements of audits, as issued by Clients, Regulatory Authorities or rig management that impact E&I equipment or systems.
• Liaise with the Senior Electrician to ensure that all third-party equipment is fit for purpose, certified, correctly installed, and maintained whilst on the rig.
• Review and communicate potential improvements to E&I equipment or systems.
• Ensure accurate and complete handovers are provided at shift and rotation change.
• Mentor and coach, Electrical Team members to ensure they are competent to work at their next job level.
• Tools and equipment to carry out maintenance will always be available when required.
• Electrical equipment rooms and Electrical workshop housekeeping is to a high standard.
• Participate fully in the annual performance appraisal process including the recommendation of promotions.
• Attend offshore/onshore meetings, events and training programs, as required.
• Participate in and promote the competency management system encouraging through the Electrical Team

• MODU E&I systems are always available to meet operational requirements.
• MODU E&I safety critical maintenance backlog has no overdue work orders ensuring operation of safety and environmentally critical equipment.
• Audit and inspection findings are closed within the agreed time schedule ensuring compliance.
• PLC programmes and other relevant software kept up to date and backed up securely to ensure efficient reloading when required.

• Support the investigation and review of all major reportable incidents, related to the E&I systems to find route cause.
• Support the maintenance team in doing things right the first time, every time, and contribute positively to continual improvement activities on the MODU.

Knowledge & Competency:

• Valid UK survival mandatory training
• Recognised qualification or technical accreditation in electrical, electronic or instrumentation discipline.
• Completion of all training and certification requirements for offshore Electronic Technician as described in the Companies training matrix.
• Advanced Computer Skills.
• Comp-Ex training level Ex01-04
• Relative experience in supporting drilling operations, 2 years on MODU
• Higher education or degree in any of the electrical, electronic or instrumentation discipline
