Job summary

Cummins is seeking an enthusiastic Electronic System Engineering Student to join the Controls & Electronics team for the Engine Business Segment in Darlington, United Kingdom. Placement will run with on-site commitments three days per week, and relocation/travel are expected for the role.

The program offers exposure to a global organisation, hands-on lab work, and collaboration with engineers across the controls and electronics area. Start is Summer 2027, for a placement year.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing an Automation/Energy/Electrical/Automotive Engineering degree.
  • Willingness to relocate to Darlington and travel to site.
  • Strong initiative and ability to work in a team.
  • Interest in controls, electronics and lab environments.
  • Evidence of relevant extracurricular experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing requirements for the L Platform Global VII engine.
  • Support building test benches and wiring schematics for experiments.
  • Help maintain laboratory environment and automate tests with CAN tools.
  • Coordinate lab safety and adherence to policies.
  • Support team members with controls setup and system integration.
  • Assist in creating test reports aligned with V-model processes.
  • Coordinate and manage laboratory test setups and inventories.
