Job summary

ZENOVO is seeking an Electronic Design Engineer in Taunton to join their engineering team on-site. The role covers the full product development lifecycle from concept through testing, manufacture and support.

A degree in electronics and at least one year of relevant industry experience is expected, with potential for candidates with a sandwich year in industry. The successful candidate will design circuits and PCBs, develop MCU-based systems with embedded C/C++, and apply EMC/EMI and regulatory

Qualifications

• Degree in Electronics Engineering, Embedded Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong experience in electronic circuit design and PCB development.
• Experience with PCB design software; Altium Designer experience is advantageous.
• Experience designing low-power battery-powered and mains-powered electronic products.
• Experience with microcontroller-based systems
• Knowledge of embedded C/C++.
• Strong hardware debugging, testing, and fault-finding skills, with knowledge of EMC/EMI and regulatory compliance.
• Understanding of PCB manufacturing processes, DFM, and electronic component selection.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic circuits, systems, and PCBs for battery-powered and mains-powered products.
• Create PCB schematics and layouts using PCB design software, ideally Altium Designer.
• Develop and support microcontroller-based systems, including hardware/software integration using embedded C/C++.
• Build, test, debug, and validate electronic hardware using laboratory test and measurement equipment.
• Apply EMC/EMI principles, DFM, and DFT throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Select components and support PCB manufacture, assembly, and supplier relationships.
• Produce technical documentation, including schematics, BOMs, assembly drawings, and test procedures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and contribute to continuous product and process improvement.

Role Overview

We are looking for a motivated Electronic Design Engineer to join our client's growing engineering team. Our client isone of the world’s largest manufacturers of identification and tracking systems, including electronic tags and RFID readers.

The role covers the full product development lifecycle, from concept, PCB design and prototyping through to testing, manufacture, deployment, and ongoing support.

The ideal candidate will have at least one year of industry experience outside of university. However, we are happy to consider candidates who have completed a Sandwich Degree with a year in industry as part of their studies.
