Job summary

Veolia Environmental Services (Uk) Plc in Marchwood seeks an Electro-Mechanical Technician to maintain and fault-find electrical and mechanical systems at a modern energy facility. You will diagnose faults, support PLC-controlled equipment and participate in 365-day maintenance activities.

Rock-solid maintenance experience in a power-generation or industrial setting is essential, with a recognised apprenticeship and relevant qualifications. Ongoing safety and teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• Proven experience diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical systems.
• A recognised engineering apprenticeship and relevant electrical and/or mechanical maintenance qualifications.
• Experience in continuous-process, power-generation, industrial environments.
• Experience with PLC-controlled equipment, motors, pumps, conveyors, switchgear, transformers, generators, cranes.
• Ability to work safely with high-voltage systems when trained and authorised.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault-finding, defect rectification and scheduled maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems.
• Diagnose faults on overhead cranes, drives, transformers, switchgear, UPS and related equipment.
• Interface with PLC controllers and support maintenance teams during breakdowns.
• Record maintenance activities on the CMMS and support 365-day maintenance coverage.
• Work with Operations to coordinate repairs and maintain plant operation.
• Supervise company and contractor personnel when required.
• Maintain safe work areas and comply with HSEQ procedures.
• Use electrical test equipment and workshop tools as needed.
• Be flexible to a staggered rota, including weekends and out-of-hours.

Job description

• Carry out electrical and mechanical fault-finding, defect rectification and planned preventative maintenance within a modern Energy Recovery Facility.
• Maintain and diagnose faults on overhead cranes, grabs, inverters, battery and UPS systems, transformers, 415V and 11kV switchgear, protective devices, generator AVR and excitation systems.
• Maintain and fault-find rotating equipment, including 415VAC motors, pumps, conveyors, motorised valves and associated control gear.
• Interface with PLC controllers and support the Electrical, Mechanical and Control & Instrumentation teams during plant breakdowns.
• Use electrical test equipment, workshop tools, drilling machines, lathes and bench-fitting equipment.
• Report plant defects, identify root causes and recommend improvements or modifications to plant and equipment.
• Liaise with Operations and maintenance teams to coordinate repairs and support efficient plant operation.
• Supervise company and contractor personnel when required.
• Maintain clean, tidy and safe work areas and comply with all Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.

  A recognised engineering apprenticeship and relevant electrical and/or mechanical maintenance qualifications.
• Proven experience diagnosing and repairing electrical and mechanical systems.
• Experience working in a continuous-process, power-generation, industrial or similar operational environment.
• Practical knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques and computerised maintenance management systems.
• Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment, motors, pumps, conveyors, switchgear, transformers, generators, cranes or similar industrial plant.
• Competence using electrical test equipment and general workshop machinery and tools.
• The ability to work safely with electrical and mechanical equipment, including high-voltage systems where appropriately trained and authorised.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team.
• Flexibility to work a staggered rota covering seven-day, 365-day maintenance operations, including weekends, overtime and out-of-hours call-outs.
• A proactive approach to diagnosing faults, resolving plant defects and improving equipment reliability.
