Job summary

Babcock International invites applications for a 5-year Electro-Mechanical Engineer Degree Apprenticeship at Devonport Dockyard. The programme combines electrical and mechanical work, with placements across our Submarine Commissioning Group and Mechanical Handling Group.

You’ll earn a BEng on completion, study at Warwick and onsite training, and you’ll work toward professional registration while earning a salary above £42,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above including Maths and English.
• A-levels Maths and Physical Science (or Chemistry, Physics) with high grades.
• BTEC Diploma with Distinction in specified units or HE Diploma with required credits.
• UK security clearances BPSS and SC may apply and nationality restrictions exist.
• Successful applicant must be able to obtain University provider acceptance.

Responsibilities

• Work on commissioning of nuclear submarines or mechanical handling assets on site.
• Learn electrical and mechanical design from concept through to manufacturing.
• Undertake placements across groups to gain broad electro‑mechanical experience.
• Develop skills in drawings, calculations, specifications, scheduling and reporting.
