Job summary

Thales Templecombe invites aspiring Mechanical Engineering Apprentices to join a Level 6 Electro-Mechanical Apprenticeship. You will contribute to designing and testing advanced underwater naval systems, using CAD to create mechanical parts and packaging electronics for military platforms.

The five-year apprenticeship funds your degree, blends on-campus learning with online study and practical, hands-on work, and leads to a fully funded BEng in Electro-Mechanical Engineering with a Level 6

Qualifications

• 3 A Levels (BBB) including Mathematics and eligible Maths assessment.
• 5 GCSEs grade 9-4 incl. English and Maths.

Responsibilities

• Designing mechanical parts and systems using CAD software.
• Packaging of electronics and associated cabling.
• Designing equipment for installation on military platforms.
• Producing manufacturing and assembly drawings for production teams.
• Understanding stress, shock and vibration in designs.
• Building and testing prototypes during development.
• Qualifying products for use in demanding environments.
• Applying design-for-manufacture principles to improve efficiency.
