Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. in the United Kingdom is seeking an Assembly Operator to build mechanical and electro/mechanical assemblies to drawings and CMM specifications.

You will inspect, test, upgrade and maintain tooling and equipment, while adhering to quality standards and company procedures. Role requires reading and interpreting drawings, SOPs, and using hand tools such as torque drivers, calipers, and micrometers.

Qualifications

• Able to read and understand drawings and/or CMMs and/or SOPs.
• Able to work from SOPs in tandem with drawings.
• Able to read, write and understand English.
• Knowledge of tools such as circlip pliers, pliers, screwdrivers, tweezers, scrapers, Swiss files.
• Soldering skills on small components.
• Skills on the use of machines, lathes, drills, etc.
• Previous experience in a production environment, assembly of electro/mechanical products.
• Experience in assembling small components (e.g., model kits).
• Ability to work in a team.
• Methodical and logical approach.
• Good time management.
• Able to communicate at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Reading drawings and/or CMMs to support assembly.
• Assemble mechanical and electro/mechanical components to drawings/CMMs.
• Test and inspect components and systems to meet specifications.
• Maintain and repair mechanical/electrical assemblies.
• Use basic hand tools and measuring equipment.
• Carry out tests and inspections to identify and troubleshoot issues.
• Follow manufacturing procedures and complete relevant documentation.
• Support customers, suppliers and visitors on site as needed.
• Participate in Continuous Improvement and 6S activities.
