Whether you need to adjust your hours to fit your lifestyle or have specific needs that require a tailored schedule, we’re here to accommodate. Let’s work together to find a solution that works for you and benefits the team.

About your team :

At British Gas, our mission is to sell it and mend it.

We’ve been powering the UK’s homes and businesses for over 200 years – but supplying energy is just part of what we do. We’re making the UK greener and more energy efficient, getting closer to Net Zero. By using clever tech like thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier for our customers to reduce their carbon-footprint.

About your role:

The Electricity Settlements Manager ensures British Gas consistently meets its settlement obligations within the domestic electricity market. This involves overseeing processes to ensure full compliance with the Balancing and Settlement Code, verifying that the energy volume attributed to British Gas accurately reflects customer consumption.

The role includes leading both onshore analysts and offshore teams to align data, resolve exceptions, and maintain operational excellence.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop technical skills and gain knowledge of gas settlements. The role also offers the potential to recover millions of pounds for the business and opportunities for overseas travel to visit offshore teams.

Your key daily duties will be:

Ensure British Gas consistently meets settlement performance targets across the entire domestic portfolio.

Manage relationships with Elexon, ensuring performance plans (EFRs) are adhered to and milestones are achieved.

Ensure full compliance with the Balancing and Settlement Code (BSC), demonstrating this during the annual BSC audit.

Lead and develop a team of Data Analysts to monitor and improve settlement performance and reduce Imbalance exposure.

Oversee the British Gas Elective Half-Hourly portfolio, ensuring exceptions are reviewed, and customers are billed accurately.

Ensure Estimated Annual Consumption (EAC) values are accurate and representative of customer usage, avoiding adverse impacts on British Gas and its customers.

Manage meter read rejections, failed reads, and industry NHH D0095 exceptions to ensure operational accuracy and efficiency.

Collaborate with internal operational teams and product teams to understand and mitigate impacts on settlement and Imbalance.

Direct outsource partners, such as EXL and ENSEK, to effectively deliver operational requirements.

Manage third-party strategic partners (DC/DA) to maximise settlement and imbalance benefits.

Support the business in understanding the impact of the MHHS programme on settlement costs and ensure successful implementation of industry-driven changes.

Monitor industry developments proactively, adjusting internal processes as necessary to maintain compliance and operational efficiency.

Here's what we’re looking for:

We are looking for a leader with knowledge of electricity settlements, preferably in the residential market, along with strong industry expertise.

This role requires managing a team of analysts, so leadership skills are essential. While technical knowledge would be advantageous, there is also the opportunity to develop these skills further.

Strong stakeholder management is a must, as you will collaborate with third parties and offshore teams. The ability to work independently and take initiative is key to success in this role.
