An opportunity is available for a Network Technician at National Grid's Kettering depot. You will be responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical networks up to 66kV, requiring expertise in electrical engineering and specific safety protocols. Successful candidates will need relevant qualifications and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team under demanding conditions.
An opportunity is available for a Network Technician based at our Kettering depot.
You will be accountable to the Team Manager for the construction, maintenance, and repair of the underground and overhead network up to 66kV. Additionally, you will be responsible for programming and monitoring immediate work colleagues, switching up to 66kV, issuing appropriate safety documentation, and other tasks relevant to the Technician role.
You are required to have grade A*-C/4-9 GCSE in English and Maths or a Functional Skills Level 2 qualification in both subjects. You must also hold a City & Guilds 2339 Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 qualification in Electrical Engineering. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
You must be able to work independently and as part of a small team, making on-the-spot decisions when necessary. Good communication skills, a flexible attitude, and the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines are essential. You will also need to train as an SAP and be mobile throughout the area to undertake standby duties as part of the team’s rota.
If not already attained, the successful candidate will be required to undertake a Level 3 City & Guilds 2339.
*Please note that the successful candidate may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are completed.
