Job description

Electricity Distribution - Network Planner

We are currently recruiting for a Grade 4 Network Planner to join us at our Alfreton depot. Planners design our network and work with our Engineers to construct, reinforce, alter, and replace equipment. The role is fast-paced, and if you join us, our customers will trust you to provide excellent service and minimize any impact.

To apply, you need English and Maths GCSE at Grade C/Level 4 minimum OR Functional Skills Level 2 or above. Evidence of your qualifications will be required.

This role offers a hybrid working approach, combining office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and is subject to business needs.

Main Responsibilities

You will manage multiple projects simultaneously, including designing, costing, and quoting for existing and new electricity network assets. Your responsibilities include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering new services, alterations, and small capital projects
  • Conducting onsite meetings
  • Collaborating with wayleaves/estates specialists to obtain third-party agreements for NGED assets
  • Financially reviewing and closing projects
  • Communicating effectively with customers to manage expectations and resolve queries
  • Scheduling contracted works
  • Engaging with local authorities and external stakeholders
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate understands customer needs and possesses strong communication skills to solve problems and explain issues clearly. You should be resilient, organized, and able to prioritize your workload, especially as you will manage your own diary. Teamwork skills are essential, and experience with iPads and computers is required. Mobility across the area is necessary, and a full UK driving license is essential for standby duties.

You may not have all the skills at present but should have the confidence and ability to reach the required standards through training. You will need to undertake a Level 2 City & Guilds 2339 qualification and complete TAR, which involves diary management and various tasks and reports.

*Initially, you may be appointed at a lower salary until training is completed.

National Grid Electricity Distribution is committed to safeguarding and will require a satisfactory DBS check, with screening levels depending on the role.
