Job summary

Veolia Energy & Utility Services UK Limited in Newport is seeking an Electricians Mate to support site electricians and maintenance engineers. You will assist with electrical testing, five-yearly inspections, PAT testing, and network cabling tasks, while also handling non-electrical duties as required.

You’ll work under direction of the Site Electrician, follow RAMS, and help maintain safety and compliance across procedures and records.

Qualifications

• Core electrical qualification (EAL Level 1 & 2 Diploma or similar).
• Knowledge of electrical circuits and installations.
• Electrical test and inspect capabilities.
• General secondary education qualifications (minimum).

Responsibilities

• Assist Site Electrician and Maintenance Engineers with planned and reactive electrical tasks.
• Carry out PAT testing and electrical test/inspection activities.
• Complete documentation and CAFM updates; prepare RAMS.
• Support maintenance shutdowns, on-call rota and ISO/EHS audits.

This role is to work as an Electrician mate on site to assist with electrical testing and to assist with PPMs, reactive works and additional tasks. The role will also include non electrical works and working alongside maintenance engineers.

What you’ll be doing:

Assist the Site Electrician and Maintenance Engineers with planned and reactive electrical tasks, including five-yearly electrical inspections, emergency-light testing, distribution-board testing and inspections, and fault finding. Carry out planned and reactive work allocated through the CAFM system, under the direction of the Site Electrician and in line with the agreed contract scope, site procedures and priorities. Complete PAT testing, electrical test and inspection activities, network cabling installations and other authorised maintenance tasks in accordance with relevant standards and regulations. Accurately complete job records, inspection documentation and CAFM updates before and after work. Prepare, follow and review risk assessments and method statements (RAMS). Comply with all Health and Safety, environmental and electrical procedures. Support ISO and EHS audits, maintain good housekeeping, and ensure tools and equipment are kept in good condition and calibrated within the required timescales. Support maintenance shutdowns, out-of-hours work and the on-call rota when required. Participate in appropriate training, including working-at-height training, and work effectively with the Site Electrician, Maintenance Engineers and Veolia site team. No responsibility for strategic growth, frequent contact face to face with the client. This role holder will predominantly be working with the onsite maintenance engineers. Take part in the on call rota

• Experience with structured network cabling.
• Experience with ISO and EHS audits.
• Working-at-height, manual-handling or other relevant site-safety training.
• Experience in a commercial, industrial or facilities-management environment.
• Experience participating in an on-call rota, maintenance shutdowns or out-of-hours work.
