Job summary

Brighton and Hove City Council is seeking an experienced electrician to join the Electrical Testing and Compliance team in Housing Repairs and Maintenance. You will upgrade electrical installations, test and certify work, locate faults, and rewire circuits as needed, predominantly in occupied properties across Brighton and Hove.

A fleet vehicle is provided and overtime/call-out shifts may be available. The role requires City and Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installations and an active electrical

Qualifications

• City and Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installations.
• Experienced electrician.

Responsibilities

• Upgrade electrical installations in communal and domestic settings to meet the Wiring Regulations.
• Test electrical installations and produce certification such as EICs and EICRs.
• Detect, locate and diagnose electrical faults.
• Rewire circuits or full installations as necessary.
• Install full smoke detection and gateway systems.
• Produce smoke detection certification.
• Work with non-notifiable, non-licensed asbestos after full training.
• Deliver high customer service while meeting safety, quality and cost control standards.
• Work mainly in occupied properties across Brighton and Hove, alone or in small teams.
