Job summary

Brighton & Hove City Council is seeking experienced electricians to join the Housing Repairs and Maintenance Team, focusing on electrical upgrades, testing and compliance for council homes.

You will work in residents’ homes and communal areas, delivering high standards of safety and service. A full driving licence and City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Installations are required, with induction and ongoing development provided.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence required.
• City and Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installations required.
• Experience as an electrician in housing repairs/maintenance desirable.

Responsibilities

• Upgrade electrical installations in communal and domestic settings to Wiring Regulations.
• Test electrical installations and issue certificates (EICs, EICRs).
• Detect, locate and diagnose faults; rewire as necessary.
• Work with asbestos (training provided) and maintain safety.
• Install smoke detection and gateway systems and produce related certifications.
