Job summary

CRC in Cambridge is seeking an Electrical Installations Technician to support our Electrical Installations team. Based mainly at Cambridge Campus, you will prepare workshops, maintain equipment and assist teaching staff to deliver high-quality practical learning.

This role offers a clear career path in education with potential routes into teaching and assessing, and a strong focus on safety, teamwork and proactive workshop management.

Qualifications

• A minimum Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Installations.
• At least one year's relevant trade experience within an electrical environment.
• Practical knowledge of electrical maintenance and repair.
• Up-to-date understanding of Health & Safety requirements relating to Electrical Installations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good administrative and organisational abilities.
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
• Positive approach to building effective working relationships with colleagues and students.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining and carrying out basic repairs to equipment within workshops and training areas.
• Preparing and setting up tools, equipment, materials and assessment areas for practical teaching sessions.
• Supporting lecturers during practical workshops, demonstrations and assessments.
• Ensuring workshops and training environments remain safe, organised and compliant with Health & Safety requirements.
• Assisting with the preparation and development of practical learning activities.
• Contributing to team meetings and the ongoing development of the Electrical Installations curriculum.
• Supporting the day-to-day operation of the department and other associated duties as required.

About the Role

Reporting to the Assistant Head of Department for Electrical Installations, you will provide high-quality technical support across the department, helping to ensure practical learning programmes are delivered effectively and safely.

Key responsibilities include:
