Electrician - Newcastle

Role: Electrician
Salary: £33,000 - £35,000 + additional £0.27 - £4.73 merit rate per hour, overtime, and testing hourly rate where applicable
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Travel: You will be traveling to different depots and client sites. A company van will be available. You must have the availability to travel and occasionally stay overnight.
We are looking for an Electrician to join Newcastle Hire Centre.

As an Electrician, your responsibilities will include electrical testing, installation works, amendments to existing circuits, refurbishment and fit-out of Portakabin buildings, and aftersales support. You should be flexible to travel and able to work in a fast-paced, controlled environment.

  1. Applying electrical principles in design, construction, installation, and maintenance of electrical systems.
  2. Ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and legislation to promote a zero-harm culture.
  3. Designing and installing electrical systems that meet current regulations.
  4. Testing buildings to required standards and completing necessary documentation.
  5. Overseeing testing requirements as the qualified supervisor.
  6. Conducting fault finding and rectifications both on and off-site.
  7. Utilizing reconditioned fittings and materials without compromising quality.
  8. Maintaining workmanship quality according to technical and divisional standards.
  9. Supporting additional process-based tasks, including installation and terminations of building works.

Essential Criteria:

  • Recognition of a relevant Electrical Apprenticeship Scheme/Indentures (or AM2) & City & Guilds 2360 or NVQ Level 3 electrical installation, City & Guilds 2380/2381 (IEE Wiring Regs - 18th Edition), or JIB Card including IEE Wiring Regs 18th Edition.
  • City & Guilds 2395 Inspection, Testing, and Certification.
  • Previous experience in construction preferred but not essential if qualifications are met and attitude is right.
  • Understanding of health and safety practices and legislation.
  • Good organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong communication skills for building relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Full UK Driving License (essential for traveling).
