Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) is seeking an Electrician to join the Facilities Maintenance Team at HMP Erlestoke in Devizes. The role is permanent, 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, working to support a safe and secure prison environment.

The successful candidate will be fully qualified with relevant electrical credentials and experience on commercial/industrial systems, and will contribute to planned and preventive maintenance while prioritising safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Certificate in BS7671:2018 (18th edition).
• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services (City & Guilds/EAL) with NVQs/AM2/AM2S where applicable.
• Two years' experience as a fully qualified electrician.
• Experience on commercial or industrial electrical systems.
• Good knowledge of planned and preventive maintenance operations.
• Strong Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.

Location: HMP Erlestoke, 33 Victoria Park, Devizes. SN10 5TU

Salary: £41,062.25 per annum (plus £1000 per annum RRA)

Contract: Permanent - 39hrs per week - Mon-Fri

We are seeking a dedicated fully qualified Electrician to join our team at HMP Erlestoke, a Category C, adult male prison.

As an Electrician, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, other Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for an Electrician with a combination of:

• Certificate in BS7671:2018 (18th edition)
• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services (City & Guilds/EAL), including relevant NVQs and competency assessments (AM2/AM2S). For example: 2367 or 2357.
• Two years' experience working in a role as a fully qualified electrician
• Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems
• Good working knowledge of planned and preventive maintenance operations
• Good Health & Safety knowledge
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
