Job summary

Gov Facilities Services Limited (GFSL) is hiring a fully qualified Electrician to join the HMP Leyhill facilities team. The role requires a strong background in electrical installation, and work in a secure prison environment on site in England.

The successful candidate will work with Plumbers, Electricians, Carpenters and other trades to maintain safe, reliable electrical systems and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. A commitment to safety and adherence to BS7671 is essential.

Qualifications

• Certificate in BS7671:2018 (18th edition).
• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services (City & Guilds/EAL), including NVQs and AM2/AM2S.
• Two years' experience as a fully qualified electrician.
• Experience on commercial or industrial electrical systems.
• Good knowledge of planned and preventive maintenance.
• Good Health & Safety knowledge.
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills.

We are seeking a dedicated fully qualified Electrician to join our team at HMP Leyhill, an open, adult, male prison.

As an Electrician, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced and passionate colleagues who vary from Plumbers, other Electricians, Carpenters, Painters, to Cleaners, and Administrators, and others, who are all dedicated to making a positive difference, providing a safe and secure environment for all.

We are a Ministry of Justice business and provide critical and time-bound services to HMPPS, and are looking for an Electrician with a combination of

Certificate in BS7671:2018 (18th edition)

• Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installation or Electrotechnical Services (City & Guilds/EAL), including relevant NVQs and competency assessments (AM2/AM2S). For example: 2367 or 2357.
• Two years' experience working in a role as a fully qualified electrician
• Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems
• Good working knowledge of planned and preventive maintenance operations
• Good Health & Safety knowledge
• Excellent organisational, time management and people skills

Future Plans.

GFSL has been notified by it's shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of FM Services will in future be delivered by the private sector. This means that following a successful procurement process, GFSL's services will complete transfer to a private sector provider/providers no sooner than August 2027.
