Job summary

Sodexo is seeking an Electrician to provide essential electrical installation, testing, examination and maintenance within a prison environment. The role supports the Maintenance Team Leader and collaborates with allied trades to ensure electrical systems operate safely and efficiently.

You will carry out repairs and preventative maintenance, keep detailed records, and participate in out-of-hours on-call work.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in fault finding, installation and repairs.
• Experience with PAT testing and testing/inspection.
• Qualified to 18th Edition (BS 7671).
• Knowledge of commercial electrical repairs including HVAC, AHU, controls and BMS is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Carry out repairs and preventative maintenance on electrical systems within the establishment.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, ensuring compliance with relevant trade standards (18th Edition).
• Perform scheduled maintenance services on electrical systems and fixtures.
• Conduct out-of-hours call-outs on an On Call rota system and respond appropriately.
• Escort specialist contractors and support their work as required.
• Ensure installations, repairs and maintenance meet codes of practice and ensure safe operation of electrical systems.
• Complete detailed records of all work carried out, including identification of defective equipment.
• Maintain a proactive approach to Health and Safety and support a strong safety culture.
• Support the team in achieving operational goals and maintaining efficient electrical systems.
