Job summary

Building Careers UK Ltd are recruiting an experienced Electrician for our Social Housing repairs division. You will carry out electrical repairs, maintenance and replacement works across occupied properties, ensuring high quality workmanship and safety standards.

The role is site-based, covering areas within up to 90 minutes of Swindon, Monday to Friday, 39 hours per week, plus an on-call rota. Rate: £20–£23 per hour.

Qualifications

• Fault finding and responsive electrical repairs in social housing properties.
• Qualified electrician with industry certifications and safe working practices.
• Experience with security and compliance testing and certification.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out fault finding and responsive electrical repairs within tenanted Social Housing properties.
• Completing electrical works including MCB/circuit breaker replacements, rewires, lighting, switches, showers, smoke alarms, extractor fans.
• Inspection, testing and re-certification, and completion of relevant electrical certification.
• Working from daily job tickets or handheld device and providing excellent customer service.

About the role

As an Electrician, you'll be responsible for carrying out electrical repairs, maintenance, testing and replacement works within occupied Social Housing properties.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out fault finding and responsive electrical repairs within tenanted Social Housing properties.


• Completing a wide range of electrical works, including:

  • Emergency and external lighting
  
  
  • Switches and minor installations
  
  
  • Shower repairs and replacements
  
  
  • Smoke alarms

About you

We're looking for an experienced and qualified Electrician who takes pride in their work and is confident working within a Social Housing environment.

You will ideally have:

• 18th Edition qualification.


• AM2 or equivalent.


• NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent.


• 2391-52 or equivalent inspection and testing qualification.


• BS 7671:2018 knowledge.


• Experience working within a Social Housing, repairs or refurbishment environment.


• A full UK driving licence.
