Job summary

BGEN Ltd is seeking an experienced electrician to join our team in Grangemouth and work on large-scale infrastructure projects. You’ll read drawings, gland and terminate cable systems to BS 7671, and install equipment safely and accurately to client specifications.

The role emphasizes hands-on problem solving, regulatory compliance and a commitment to safety. It offers training opportunities, progression and a collaborative environment within M Group Water’s multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified electrician with City & Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Able to read and interpret electrical schematics and installation drawings.
  • Current ECS Grading Card with BS 7671 training and a valid Health & Safety assessment.
  • Knowledge of LV assemblies such as control panels and MCCs.
  • Strong understanding of relevant electrical standards and regulations.
  • 18th Edition qualification.
  • Experience in water or heavy industry is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Install cable containment systems meeting industry standards and client expectations.
  • Gland and terminate cable systems to BS 7671 from supplied drawings.
  • Install electrical equipment safely, following regulations and manufacturer guidance.
  • Test electrical systems, check continuity and ensure proper operation.
  • Assist in planning installations and help projects run smoothly.
  • Diagnose faults, identify causes, and apply fixes to maintain reliability.

This role will join BGEN - one of the UK's largest multidisciplinary design and build contractors with over 100 years of industry experience. We support clients in the water, power & energy, pharmaceutical, nuclear and food and beverage industries to deliver next generation, value-added engineering solutions

What will you be doing?
  • You will install cable containment systems with care, meeting industry standards and client expectations.
  • You will gland and terminate cable systems to BS 7671, working confidently from supplied drawings.
  • You will install electrical equipment safely and accurately, following regulations and manufacturer guidance.
  • You will test electrical systems, check continuity, and make sure everything is working as it should.
  • You will play an active role in planning installations and helping projects run smoothly.
  • When faults appear, you will diagnose the issue, find the cause, and apply the right fix to keep everything running reliably.
What you'll bring
  • Fully qualified electrician with a City & Guilds Apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and installation drawings
  • Current ECS Grading Card with BS 7671 training and a valid Health & Safety assessment
  • Helpful knowledge of LV assemblies such as control panels and MCCs
  • Strong understanding of relevant electrical standards and regulations
  • Fully qualified to the 18th Edition
  • Experience in the water industry or heavy industry is an advantage
