NRL is seeking an experienced Electrical Works Controller to support major projects at Sellafield in Cumbria. The role focuses on coordinating electrical and construction activities on a live site while maintaining safety, compliance, and efficiency in a highly regulated environment.

You will work within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring work aligns with project requirements, industry regulations, and approved procedures, contributing to on-time milestone delivery and quality outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a highly regulated environment such as Sellafield.
  • Background in electrical engineering, construction, or related discipline.
  • Proven track record coordinating complex live-site activities.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Experience in nuclear, defence, energy, petrochemical, or high-hazard industries.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee electrical and construction activities across the site.
  • Ensure work is delivered safely and in compliance with procedures and permits.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Support planning, sequencing, and coordination of activities.
  • Monitor progress and identify risks or constraints to delivery.
  • Verify permits, authorisations and control measures before work starts.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Works Controller to support the delivery of major projects at the Sellafield site. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled electrical professional with experience in highly regulated environments to play a key role in the safe coordination and execution of electrical and construction activities. Working as part of a multidisciplinary project team, you will be responsible for coordinating site activities, ensuring work is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved procedures, project requirements, and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and oversee electrical and associated construction activities across site.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely and in compliance with approved work instructions, procedures, and permit requirements.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of works.
  • Support the planning, sequencing, and coordination of construction activities.
  • Monitor work progress and identify potential issues, risks, or constraints affecting delivery.
  • Verify that appropriate permits, authorisations, and control measures are in place before work commences.
  • Promote and champion a strong nuclear and conventional safety culture.
  • Challenge unsafe behaviours and ensure compliance with site standards.
  • Maintain accurate records and support quality assurance, testing, commissioning, and completion activities as required.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of project milestones within schedule and budget requirements.
Candidate Requirements Essential
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience working within Sellafield or a comparable highly regulated environment.
  • Background in electrical engineering, electrical construction, or related engineering disciplines.
  • Proven experience coordinating and supervising complex work activities on live industrial sites.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, CDM requirements, and safe systems of work.
  • Knowledge of working within nuclear, defence, energy, petrochemical, or other high-hazard industries.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical documentation, work packs, and construction plans.
Desirable
  • Previous experience in a Works Controller, Construction Coordinator, Electrical Supervisor, or similar role.
  • Experience supporting electrical installation, maintenance, modification, or decommissioning projects.
  • Familiarity with Sellafield site processes and procedures.
Site Access & Compliance Requirements
  • Security Clearance.
  • P4 and/or P1 authorisation.
  • Sellafield site and plant access.
  • Unescorted plant access.
  • Monitored/Classified Worker status where required.
  • Relevant knowledge of Sellafield systems, procedures, and working practices.
  • Ability to work within radiological and conventional safety control arrangements.
  • Compliance with all project-specific SQEP requirements.
