Job summary

Morson Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Works Controller to support the safe, compliant delivery of the Retrievals East River Project at Sellafield. You will act as the main interface between TDA, the client, subcontractors and stakeholders, overseeing electrical construction and ensuring adherence to nuclear safety standards and programme requirements.

Responsibilities

• Oversee electrical construction activities in line with CDM and site rules.
• Ensure Safe Systems of Work are developed, reviewed and applied.
• Maintain nuclear safety culture and manage incidents and near misses.
• Verify SQEP status and ensure workforce competency.
• Monitor progress against milestones and mitigate risks.
• Coordinate with engineers, subcontractors and project teams.
• Attend constructability reviews, HAZOPs, and planning sessions.
• Support lessons learned and continuous improvement efforts.
• Maintain accurate project documentation for QA and compliance.

Job description

Looking for a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Works Controller to support the ongoing safe and efficient delivery of projects across the Sellafield site.

This is a full time onsite 12 month contract role inside IR35 at market rates.

THE ROLE:

The Decommissioning Alliance (TDA) is seeking an experienced Electrical Works Controller to support the safe and successful delivery of the Retrievals East River Project at Sellafield. Acting as the key interface between TDA, the client, subcontractors, and project stakeholders, you will oversee electrical construction activities, ensuring compliance with nuclear safety standards, programme requirements, and regulatory obligations. Reporting to the Construction Manager, you will provide discipline-specific leadership across construction delivery, health and safety, quality, and stakeholder coordination within a highly regulated environment.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Oversee and coordinate electrical construction activities in compliance with CDM regulations, site licence conditions, and TDA procedures.
• Ensure Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) are developed, reviewed, implemented, and controlled effectively.
• Promote a strong health, safety, and nuclear safety culture, ensuring all incidents and near misses are reported and managed appropriately.
• Verify workforce competency and ensure all personnel are Suitably Qualified and Experienced Persons (SQEP).
• Monitor construction progress against programme milestones, identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures.
• Liaise with project teams, engineers, and subcontractors to resolve technical, resource, and delivery challenges.
• Participate in constructability reviews, HAZOPs, HAZCONs, progress meetings, and project planning activities.
• Support lessons learned reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and records to support quality assurance, compliance, and lifetime records.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

• Electrical discipline qualification.
• NVQ Level 5 (or equivalent).
• IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent).
• CSCS Black Manager Card.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working on the Sellafield site or within a comparable highly regulated environment.
• Demonstrable technical knowledge within a relevant construction or engineering discipline.
• Proven experience in the delivery, supervision, and coordination of complex electrical construction activities.
• Strong understanding of nuclear safety culture, regulatory compliance, and CDM requirements.
• Experience within nuclear, defence, energy, or other high-hazard industrial environments.
