Job summary

MBDA is seeking an Electrical Test Operator to join our Manufacturing Operations team in a fast-paced, inclusive setting. The role supports test and certification of electrical hardware from simple fixtures to complex missile systems through all lifecycle stages.

You will work on the night shift, ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery while collaborating with Engineering and Quality to resolve technical challenges and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Reading and understanding assembly drawings and planning instructions.
• Fully conversant with all Manufacturing equipment, tools and measuring instruments.
• Uses their initiative and can work without close supervision.
• Goes ‘the extra mile’ to get work finished to a high standard.
• Flexibility and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Testing completed hardware builds in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Maintain a safe working environment in-line with 5S policies.
• Deliver on time, cost and quality targets.
• Ensure assembly unit production costs are met.
• Maintain high workmanship standards and product quality.
• Complete manufacturing documentation and collaborate with Engineering and Quality.

Education

Electrical Engineering / Manufacturing Apprenticeship (Advanced Level or L3)

Electrical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 3 academic qualification (ONC, diploma, etc.)

Electrical Engineering / Manufacturing Level 3 vocational qualification (NVQ)

Job description

An exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical Test Operator to join our Manufacturing Operations team in a fast-paced but friendly and inclusive Manufacturing environment. This role is to work on the night shift.

Salary: £43,537 plus shift allowance

Dynamic (hybrid) working: 5 days per week on-site due to workload classification

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by the MBDA Personnel Security Team.

The opportunity:

This opportunity is for an Electrical Test Operator to join the Manufacturing team supporting test and certification of a variety of electrical hardware builds, ranging from small fixtures through to complex missile systems, during all phases of the product lifecycle. You will be providing operations support to ensure programme targets are met to agreed time, cost and quality requirements.

• Ensuring that completed hardware builds are tested in accordance with drawing requirements and specifications;

• Maintaining a safe working environment in-line with 5S policies
• Always aiming to deliver in line with all time, cost and quality requirements
• Ensuring assembly unit production costs are met
• Maintaining, to the highest level, workmanship standards and product quality
• Ensuring the completion of all manufacturing documentation
• Working closely with fellow Operators, Engineering and Quality to overcome any technical challenges and offer feedback for continuous improvement activities

You will be working with a large team of multi-disciplined operators in a fast-paced but friendly and inclusive Manufacturing environment. The team has a great mix of people, ranging from apprentices through to experienced skilled technicians, all striving to deliver technical excellence across a number of different missile systems in development and production.
