Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is recruiting a Critical Services Shift Technician in Brighton to resolve day-to-day work orders and ensure timely completion. The role is part of Critical and Technical Services and follows a continental shift pattern with 5 days on, 5 days off, including nights.

Responsibilities include Authorized Person qualification within 6 months, maintaining logs, safety compliance, and ongoing training.

Qualifications

  • Must have technical faultfinding skills and be able to operate under supervision.
  • Educated to City & Guilds in Electrical or equivalent (HNC).
  • Strong administrative skills and computer literacy.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and clear written communication.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to document work precisely.
  • Ability to write procedures and follow defined processes.

Responsibilities

  • Qualify and act as an Authorized Person within 6 months of onboarding.
  • Maintain an up-to-date log of work using the in-house system.
  • Ensure contractors comply with safety and security requirements.
  • Participate in critical services training programs.
  • Communicate effectively with client and management teams.
  • Work as part of a team to resolve operational problems and cover shifts as needed.
  • Log and action incident reports for out-of-line situations.
  • Deliver output by following defined procedures under guidance.

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a Critical Services Shift Technician to join the team in Brighton.

About The Role

As a CBRE Critical Services Technician, you will resolve and complete day-to-day work orders to meet customer satisfaction targets and ensure completion in the time frame required.

This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.

Please Note: this role is a continental shift pattern (a mix of days/nights).

Shift pattern: 5 days on, 5 days off, 4 nights on, 5 days off, 2 days on, 3 nights on, 4 days off.

42 hours per week

Shift hours 07:00h - 19:00h/19:00h-07:00h

Role Title may vary from advert.

Role Responsibilities
  • Qualify and act as an appointed Authorized Person (AP) within 6 months from onboarding.
  • Maintain an up-to-date log of work completed and outstanding items through the in‑house system.
  • Ensure that all contractors and staff comply with all company, client safety, and security requirements.
  • Participate in the critical services training program.
  • Ensure effective communication with the client and management team is maintained.
  • Operate as a team with other technicians by sharing expertise and experience to help resolve operational problems.
  • Provide holiday, training & sickness cover for other members of the shift team.
  • Track and complete Critical Services Planned Preventative Maintenance and provide condition assessments of plant and equipment.
  • Log and action all out‑of‑line situations with incident reports.
  • Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
  • Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
  • Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.

Essential-
  • Good technical & faultfinding skills
  • Educated to a minimum of City & Guilds in Electrical (or HNC)
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Computer literate
  • Highly conversant in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Desirable-
  • Apprenticeship (or equivalent programme in Electrical / Mechanical Installation).
  • Report writing
Knowledge

  • Excellent knowledge of the operation of Mechanical & Electrical Services
  • Ability to interrogate and operate BMS systems
  • Knowledge of business‑critical services i.e., UPS, Generators and Comms Rooms etc
Desirable-
  • 18th Edition IEE regs
  • HV Trained
