Job summary

CBRE Global Workplace Solutions is seeking a Critical Services Shift Technician in London to support day-to-day maintenance and the delivery of high-standard environmental design for a landmark tower.

You will handle work orders, coordinate with contractors, and ensure safety and quality standards are met across a continental shift pattern (days/nights). Emphasis on UPS, generators, and BMS operation with a focus on service excellence.

Qualifications

  • Educated to City & Guilds in Electrical (or HNC).
  • Apprenticeship (or equivalent) in Electrical/Mechanical Installation.
  • Excellent administrative skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to interrogate and operate BMS systems.
  • Knowledge of business-critical services (UPS, Generators, Comms Rooms).
  • 18th Edition IEE regs.

Responsibilities

  • Qualify and act as an Authorized Person within 6 months of onboarding.
  • Maintain an up-to-date log of work completed and outstanding items.
  • Ensure contractors comply with safety and security requirements.
  • Participate in critical services training program.
  • Communicate effectively with the client and management team.
  • Operate with other technicians to resolve operational problems.
  • Provide holiday, training and sickness cover for the shift team.
  • Log and action all incidents and complete preventative maintenance.

The critical services technician will play a vital role in the transformation of this landmark tower, which will become a state-of-the-art workplace designed for the future. This project emphasizes cutting-edge technology, sustainability, and the highest standards of environmental design, featuring flexible workspaces, collaboration zones, and dedicated wellness areas.

About the Role:

As a CBRE Critical Services Technician, you will resolve and complete day-to-day work orders to meet customer satisfaction targets and ensure completion in the time frame required.

This job is part of the Critical and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for technical maintenance services in critical client environments.

Please Note: this role is a continental shift pattern (a mix of days/nights).

Role Responsibilities:
  • Qualify and act as an appointed Authorized Person (AP) within 6 months from onboarding.
  • Maintain an up-to-date log of work completed and outstanding items through the in-house system.
  • Ensure that all contractors and staff comply with all company, client safety, and security requirements.
  • Participate in the critical services training program.
  • Ensure effective communication with the client and management team is maintained.
  • Operate as a team with other technicians by sharing expertise and experience to help resolve operational problems.
  • Provide holiday, training & sickness cover for other members of the shift team.
  • Track and complete Critical Services Planned Preventative Maintenance and provide condition assessments of plant and equipment.
  • Log and action all out-of-line situations with incident reports.
  • Use existing procedures to solve straightforward problems while having a limited opportunity to exercise discretion.
  • Impact through clearly defined duties, methods, and tasks are described in detail.
  • Deliver own output by following defined procedures and processes under close supervision and guidance.
Role Requirements:
  • Educated to a minimum of City & Guilds in Electrical (or HNC)
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Highly conversant in Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Apprenticeship (or equivalent programme in Electrical / Mechanical Installation).
  • Excellent knowledge of the operation of Mechanical & Electrical Services
  • Ability to interrogate and operate BMS systems
  • Knowledge of business-critical services i.e., UPS, Generators and Comms Rooms etc
  • 18th Edition IEE regs
  • Must be able to work under own initiative.
  • High level of personal integrity
  • Takes ownership of issues and ensures completion.
  • Able to organize and manage own workload.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written to all seniority levels.
  • Understanding of customer needs and standards.
  • Presentable and smart always
  • Self motivated with drive to exceptional service
