About the role:
We have a great opportunity for a career-minded individual to join our team as an Electrical Technician at Beckton Sewage Treatment Works - IG11 0AD.

As the successful candidate, your role will be to ensure that all equipment at our Water treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical and some mechanical equipment.

You will also be working in a multi-disciplinary team and will be responsible for carrying out scheduled, unscheduled and emergency maintenance work on Electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.

What you’ll be doing as the Electrical Technician

  • Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs in a timely and efficient manner to avoid interruptions to the process.
  • This may involve investigating and diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents.
  • You will be expected to provide technical advice, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and provide training or support for technical trainees if required.
  • Examples of equipment that you will be working on will be motors, gearboxes, various conveyors & centrifuges, various pumps, and associated control gear, 3-phase motors, starters and controls, and electronic control systems such as VSD, automatic valves, flow, level and pressure measurement.
Base Location: Beckton STW - IG11 0AD.
Working Pattern 38 Hours, Monday- Friday 07:30 am – 15:36 pm. Plus standby and overtime opportunities increasing earning by a potential £8,000 - £10,000 per annum.
All PPE and tools are provided.

What you should bring to the role
  • NVQ or C&G level 3 in Electrical Engineering is essential.
  • 18th Edition qualification is desirable, but training can be provided.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety policies are required.
  • Significant experience in electrical systems, ideally working in an industrial environment or the water industry, preferably.
  • A valid driving license is required as frequent travel is required.

  • Take Ownership of responding quickly to faults, being curious to fully understand the problem, and identifying the best solution to resolve it the first time.
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team.
  • Teamwork – We are one team, and our end goals are the same.
  • Proactive – take the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively.
  • Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.
  • Knowledge and awareness of health and safety standards.

  • Competitive salary up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
  • Standby rota payments & Overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.
