We have an opportunity for Electrical Technicians to join our team at Liberty Steel. We are recruiting for technicians across various departments, including downstream and mill operations, with shifts covering days, nights, or a combination of both.
As an Electrical Technician, you will be part of a multidisciplinary diagnostic team responding to breakdowns and completing planned maintenance work. Your role will support the departments' Shift Managers within production and engineering to ensure safety, quality, and production plans are met.

The Role of the Electrical Technicians
- Assist across-site as required to support business objectives, gaining knowledge of all departments.
- Report to the Team Leader Engineering on maintenance and operation of plant and equipment.
- Self-organise and prioritize work, managing tasks as directed by team leaders or shift managers.
- Develop maintenance practices and procedures to improve plant and equipment.
- Manage work, book spares, and record activities via CMMS, updating the team on issues.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements and maintain records.
- Adhere to procedures and report any deviations.
- Participate in creating risk assessments, SWPs, and JTDs.
- Complete point-of-work risk assessments.
- Provide coverage for sickness and holidays.
- Maintain equipment standards and liaise with engineering team members.
- Reduce waste in department operations.
- Assist in various company tasks as needed.
- Deputise for the Team Leader, supervise multi-skilled workforce, and issue permits.
- Undertake on-the-job training and learn new skills.
- Participate in plant improvement projects.
Requirements for the Electrical Technician
- Recognized engineering apprenticeship, preferably HNC or minimum ONC level or equivalent.
- Knowledge of industrial systems such as hydraulic systems, pumps, drives, gearboxes, heavy machinery, cooling systems, material handling, dust extraction, robotics, PLCs, vacuum systems, AC & DC circuits.
- Self-motivated with leadership qualities.
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with permit systems or understanding of their operation.
- Customer-focused with good prioritization skills.
