Job summary

Astute People seeks an Electrical Technician for an Energy from Waste power station in Dunbar. The role focuses on fault finding, maintenance of high and low voltage equipment, and supporting plant projects in a demanding energy environment.

You will work with PLCs, motors, drives and switchgear, with opportunities for overtime and a comprehensive benefits package including private medical and pension.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in electrical engineering.
• 17th/18th Edition wiring regulation desired.
• IOSH health and safety qualification advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Fault finding and maintenance of electrical assets (motors, transformers, switchgear, drives, HV/LV).
• Assist plant developments and outages planning.
• Supervise on-site contractors and document work.
• Maintain CMMS records for maintenance activities.
• Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination.
• Ensure availability of plant spares.

Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company to recruit for an Electrical Technician to join their Energy from Waste Power Station in Dunbar, East Lothian.

The vital Electrical Technician role comes with a salary of £49,129 + up to 12% Bonus + Overtime + Private Medical + Pension + Benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Day Shift Team Leader role

Reporting to the EC&I Engineer, you will be responsible for:

• Fault finding and maintaining electrical assets including motors, transformers, switchgear, drives and HV/LV plant Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
• Assisting in plant developments and projects
• Supervising and setting to work on site contractors
• Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination
• To ensure the availability of plant spares

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Ideally have an NVQ Level 3, or equivalent, qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• 17th / 18th Edition wiring regulation qualification will be desired
• A health and safety qualification such as an IOSH will be highly advantageous

Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge

The Electrical Technician role role would suit someone who has:

• Hands-on maintenance experience with PLC systems, motors, variable speed drives, switchgear, etc
• Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc.
• Prior experience working with high voltage equipment will be highly advantageous
• Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered for this opportunity
