Astute People is recruiting an Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer for a new-build Energy from Waste Power Station in Tilbury, Essex. The role offers a salary up to £63,000 plus location allowance and benefits, with overtime and a company pension.

You will lead EC&I maintenance, manage budgets, and work with Mechanical/Project Engineers to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient plant operation. A background in heavy process industries and CMMS proficiency is essential.

Qualifications

• Proven supervisory / management experience in heavy process engineering environments such as Power Generation (Energy from Waste, Biomass, Coal, CCGT, CHP)
• Experience in maintaining and working on instrumentation, electrical and control system equipment (SCADA, PLC, temperature, level, pressure, flow, switch gear, motors, variable speed drives, transformers)
• Contract management experience
• Good knowledge of CMMS

• Manage day-to-day and long-term goals including preventative maintenance and lead EC&I Technicians
• Contribute to overall maintenance and engineering strategy and budget management
• Collaborate with Mechanical and Project Engineers to allocate work and develop CMMS
• Assist in EC&I budget preparation
• Lead during planned outages and manage contractors on site
• Serve as Electrical Senior Authorised Person under safety rules
• Ensure all activities comply with safety policies and H&S legislation
• Deputise for the Engineering Manager when required

Astute's Power Team is partnered with a market-leading Energy company, to recruit for an Electrical, Controls and Instrumentation (EC&I) Engineer to join their new-build Energy from Waste Power Station, currently in construction, in Tilbury, Essex.

Once fully operational, the EfW will process 350,000 tonnes of waste per annum to generate c.40MW of electricity to export to the national grid which is enough to power c.90,000 homes.

The vital EC&I Engineer role comes with a salary of up to c.£63,000 + £4,694 location allowance + Bonus + Overtime + Pension + benefits

Responsibilities and duties of the EC&I Engineer role

• The day-to-day management of short-term and long-term goals which includes preventative maintenance activities to ensure maximum plant availability. This includes leading the team of EC&I Technicians to ensure these are carried out.
• Assist in the delivery of the overall maintenance & engineering strategy, implementing new maintenance techniques & approaches and management of the EC&I budget.
• Work alongside the Mechanical and Project Engineers to ensure work is appropriately allocated and delivered in addition to developing the sites CMMS.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets for the EC&I Department
• Act as the EC&I lead during planned outages, manage specialist contractors on site.
• Perform the role of Electrical Senior Authorised Person under the company's safety rules
• Ensuring all activities are carried out in a safe manner and in line with company safety policies, safety rules and relevant H&S legislation.
• Deputise for the Engineering Manager as and when required

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

• Ideally a HNC, or similar, in a relevant engineering subject such as Electrical/Electronics/Measurement and Control Engineering
• HV SAP/AP Experience
• IOSH/NEBOSH will be advantageous

Personal Skills, Prior Experience and Knowledge

The EC&I Engineer role would suit someone who has:

• Proven supervisory / management experience in heavy process engineering environments such as Power Generation (Energy from Waste, Biomass, Coal, CCGT, CHP, etc), Paper Mills, COMAH sites, Steelworks, Refineries, etc
• Experience in maintaining and working on a variety of instrumentation, electrical and control system equipment (SCADA, PLC, temperature, level, pressure, flow, switch gear, motors, variable speed drives, transformers etc).
• Contract management experience.
• Good knowledge of CMMS
