Job summary

Recruit 12 in the United Kingdom seeks an Electrical Systems Engineer to support development of next‑generation off‑highway machines. You will own electrical architectures, validate system performance and collaborate with multi‑discipline teams from concept through production.

You will work on 12V/24V architectures, ECU integration, CAN networks and verification plans, delivering robust, safe and reliable machines for construction, agriculture and industrial sectors.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of electrical architectures, including 12V/24V systems.
  • Experience with CAN communication protocols, including J1939.
  • Knowledge of control systems, electrical integration and machine‑level functionality.
  • Experience with system validation, testing and electrical fault finding.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of key electrical and electronic systems throughout the product development lifecycle, supporting robust machine architectures from concept to production.
  • Own the development and evolution of electrical and electronic machine systems from concept through validation and production.
  • Define and develop electrical architectures, including ECU allocation, CAN network layouts and sensor/actuator integration.
  • Ensure electrical designs meet functional, environmental and reliability requirements.
  • Support the integration of ECUs, embedded software and machine‑level control functionality.
  • Develop and maintain system requirements, electrical specifications and interface definitions.
  • Manage traceability throughout the engineering V‑cycle development process.
  • Define and execute validation plans (DVP&Rs) for electrical systems.
  • Use CAN tools to verify system behaviour, diagnose faults and optimise machine functionality.
  • Lead structured fault‑finding activities across electrical and control systems.
  • Support programme delivery through design reviews, gateway processes and change management.
  • Work with suppliers on electrical components including ECUs, sensors and wiring harnesses.

Job description

With a strong focus on electrification, automation, connectivity and intelligent machine control, they are seeking Electrical Systems Engineers to support the development of next‑generation products.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Experience
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience within automotive, off‑highway, mobile machinery or similar engineering environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical architectures, including 12V/24V systems.
  • Experience with CAN communication protocols, including J1939.
  • Knowledge of control systems, electrical integration and machine‑level functionality.
  • Experience with system validation, testing and electrical fault finding.
  • Ability to analyse technical issues and apply structured problem‑solving techniques.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience working with engineering documentation, requirements management and development processes.
