Job description

Job Title: Site Supervisor – Necton 400kV Substation

Location: PE37, Norfolk, UK

Contract: Rolling 6-month contract

Rate: £375/day

Hours: 50 hours/week (5x10hr days, Mon–Fri)

Project Summary: Join a major extension of the existing 400kV AIS substation in Necton, tripling its size to accommodate new customer connections to the National Grid network. This is a critical infrastructure project requiring experienced site supervision with a strong M&E background.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Supervise daily site operations, including subcontractors and M&E works.
2. Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, health & safety policies, and National Grid standards.
3. Coordinate site logistics, materials, and equipment.
4. Monitor progress and quality, reporting directly to the Site Manager.
5. Lead daily briefings, set-to-work procedures, and issue permits (Permits to Dig, Hot Work).
6. Assist in commissioning and site documentation.
7. Represent the project professionally with clients and stakeholders.

Required Qualifications & Experience:

1. Full UK driving licence
2. National Grid Competent Person (NSI 6 & 8)
3. SMSTS, SSSTS or IOSH Managing Safely
4. CSCS or CCNSG Safety Passport
5. Minimum 5 years’ experience in T&D, preferably on National Grid projects
6. Previous supervisory experience on HV/M&E installations
7. Strong knowledge of LV/HV systems and safety protocols
8. Proficient with documentation and site reporting tools

Desirable Skills:

1. HNC/HND in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
2. Impressed Voltage awareness
3. Temporary Works Coordinator/Supervisor qualification
4. IOSH Environmental or HSG47 certification
5. Familiarity with National Grid transmission procedures

Additional Information:

• Must be physically fit for site conditions and able to work independently.
• Strong leadership, organisation, and communication skills are essential.
