Job summary

Morgan Hunt are partnering with a Glasgow office to recruit an Electrical / Senior Design Engineer for work in high-tech regulated sectors. The role focuses on designing and specifying electrical building services for complex facilities, with opportunities to mentor juniors and develop technical skills beyond traditional building services.

You will work on bespoke, challenging projects across cleanrooms, research labs and medical manufacturing facilities, with a strong emphasis on quality

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Building Services Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Chartered status or working towards it with CIBSE or IET is preferred.
• 5–10 years of design consultancy experience in electrical design for built environments.
• Proven ability to produce accurate reports and present to clients.
• Good knowledge of relevant technical standards and ability to lead project deliverables.

Responsibilities

• Understand project briefs and design/specify Electrical Building Services systems.
• Prepare and review designs, specifications, assessment reports and survey reports.
• Conduct site surveys, inspections and monitor works on site.
• Carry out detailed surveys of electrical services to inform upgrade proposals.
• Support development of junior engineers and contribute to technical notes.
• Write reports and technical notes for clients and internal teams.

Job description

Morgan Hunt are currently working alongside one of Scotland's top 100 businesses as they search for an experienced Electrical / Senior Design Engineer to join their Glasgow office. This is a truly unique and interested opportunity to work on projects in high-tech regulated industries such as cleanrooms, research laboratories, medical manufacturing facilities and more. We are looking to speak with professional, technically driven engineers interested in honing their engineering skills on bespoke, challenging projects in specialist markets. If you have experience in these sectors then that is advantageous, however this is a great chance for an individual to move away from traditional building services projects.

Role

• Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems.
• Preparation and review of documentation eg designs, specifications, assessment reports, survey reports.
• Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works
• Implementation of detailed surveys of electrical services and equipment to establish status of the existing installations and gain sufficient information to recommend new/upgrade design proposal
• Assisting with the development of junior engineers
• Report and technical note writing

Qualifications / Experience

• Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering
• Ideally chartered or working towards this with CIBSE or IET.
• 5-10 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar envrionment.
• Knowledge of electrical design within the built environment.
• Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
• Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
• Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools
