Job summary

HVSS - High Voltage Systems & Services Ltd in the United Kingdom is seeking a hands-on Electrical Design Engineer to work across voltages and design disciplines. You’ll be mentored by experienced engineers to accelerate your technical knowledge and career progression.

You will produce general arrangements, layouts, single-line diagrams, and reports, and support design calculations and value engineering. The role emphasizes ENA, DNO/IDNO G81, BS7671 compliance and BMS documentation.

Qualifications

• HND or degree in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline).
• Experience with LV/11kV design and principles.
• Understanding of the practical application of electrical installations.
• Strong communication skills, able to work with clients, project managers, and site teams.
• Safety awareness - EUSR/CSCS/ECS and First Aid at Work Certificate (or willingness to obtain).

Responsibilities

• Produce general arrangements, layouts, single line diagrams, technical submittals, and reports.
• Support Senior Engineers with design calculations, documentation, and value engineering.
• Assist Tendering Engineers and Project Managers with drawings and day-to-day technical challenges.
• Produce 'as-built' drawings and ensure design outputs are accurate, buildable, and cost-conscious.
• Maintain design standards, drawing registers, and technical documentation in line with our BMS.
• Prepare compliant designs in line with customer requirements, ENA, DNO & IDNO G81 standards, BS7671 and our BMS.
• Produce accurate construction and as-built drawings.
• Support with technical submittals and design documents for projects and tenders.
• Work closely with Senior Engineers, Tendering Engineers, and Project Managers.
• Engage with external stakeholders to clarify technical requirements.
• Escalate design challenges quickly to minimise business impact.
• Ensure all design work supports NERS accreditations, our BMS and

• Promote best practice, value engineering, and continuous development within the team.
