Job summary

FCC Environment in Wrexham is seeking a Maintenance Technician to carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance at the Wrexham PFI MBT Plant. The role covers planned and reactive maintenance, breakdown repairs and providing technical support to keep the plant running efficiently.

You will work 40 hours per week at an hourly rate of £20.96, with full-time employment and a benefits package. The role may involve duties across other PFI sites and requires a safety-focused, methodical approach.

Qualifications

• Experience as an industrial multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer or Technician.
• Recognised mechanical and electrical qualifications such as City & Guilds, HNC or HND.
• Experience working independently, solving problems and delivering effective outcomes.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical principles.
• Experience with three-phase systems, PLCs, conveyors, balers, extraction systems, pneumatics, hydraulics and related equipment.
• Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
• Ability to apply engineering knowledge to develop safe and efficient solutions.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned and reactive mechanical and electrical maintenance.
• Maintaining process equipment and completing cost-effective repairs safely and within timescales.
• Providing technical support to ensure efficient plant operation.
• Supporting the Process Engineer to ensure compliance with requirements.
• Reporting and investigating incidents, equipment damage and site issues promptly.
• Leading process improvement projects and developing practical ideas to improve performance.
• Controlling contractors and ensuring Safe Systems of Work compliance.
• Maintaining high standards of housekeeping across the site.
• Using appropriate tools, PPE and equipment for tasks.
• Reporting unsafe practices and defects and contributing to safe practices.
