Electrical Maintenance Technician - Coleshill

Hello, we’re Severn Trent and we think water is wonderful. We’re pretty keen on people too.

24 hours a day, 365 days a year, we serve 4.8 million households and businesses across the heart of the UK. Every cup of tea and every toilet flush is only possible because of our 6,500 brilliant team members.

We welcome people from all walks of life and celebrate individuality. We know diverse minds, experiences, and backgrounds help us learn and better serve our customers and communities.

If you want to do more because you care, we’d love to talk to you. There really is something for everyone here.

EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

Our Waste Water Recycling team has a great opportunity for you to join as our new Electrical Maintenance Technician covering the Central region (Warwickshire, Leicestershire & West Midlands).

The position offers an opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking team working on a variety of equipment and assets, where you will have the chance to embrace curiosity and develop new skills outside of your normal day-to-day activities.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring our treatment processes operate optimally to support our region's rivers. The role will include:

  1. Proactively and reactively maintaining electrical assets onsite.
  2. Reacting to failures and planned improvement works across the area on sewage pumping stations and treatment works.
  3. Carrying out servicing and replacement of assets such as pump motors, electrical circuitry components, contactors, overloads, slip ring assemblies, telemetry outstations, variable speed drives, and motor control circuits.
  4. Supporting local maintenance teams with planned and breakdown maintenance on electromechanical wastewater assets.
  5. Undertaking fault diagnostics and resolving issues promptly.
  6. Completing electrical inspections and testing.
  7. Interpreting and updating electrical drawings.
  8. Supporting the design and build of new processes.
  9. Providing timely feedback on work carried out daily.
  10. Monitoring treatment processes using SCADA systems and responding to alarms as needed.

You will be based at one of our main sewage treatment works depending on your home location, provided with a vehicle for business use, a laptop, safety clothing, and tools appropriate to the job. The core working hours are Monday to Friday, and you will participate in a 24/7 standby rota.

As part of your ongoing professional development, you will be required to upskill as a LV/HV SAP, which will come with an additional allowance on top of your basic salary.

If you care about the environment, are curious about how things work, and have the courage to challenge existing ways of working, we are confident you will be proud to work for Severn Trent.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE

Along with your experience, you must hold:

  • 18th Edition Electrical Regulations and ongoing updates.
  • A full UK driving license.

You should know how to work with process control systems and have a working knowledge of industrial electrical installation standards. Experience working with various IT systems is also valuable.

You must possess sound diagnostic and problem-solving skills. Basic instrumentation skills are desirable but not essential, as there will be opportunities to upskill and develop a second skill set.

We celebrate diversity and believe that different backgrounds and experiences help us serve our communities better.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

Working here is more than just a job; it's a career. We offer a range of benefits recognizing your efforts, including award-winning training to help you reach your potential and contribute to environmental and community well-being.

Some of our key perks include:

  • Starting salary of £38,573
  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (with options to buy or sell up to 5 days)
  • Annual bonus scheme (up to £1,500, subject to eligibility)
  • Leading pension scheme with employer matching (up to 15%)
  • Sharesave scheme at discounted rates
  • Dedicated training and development via our Academy
  • Electric vehicle scheme and retail offers
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Two paid volunteering days per year
