Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair equipment to meet production priorities and TPM/PPM targets.
• Diagnose faults, plan, execute maintenance and return equipment to operation.
• Define and document maintenance activities using the CMMS system.
• Estimate job duration and communicate potential downtime to production.
• Escalate risks or damages and report root causes to management.
• Supervise external contractors and ensure safe, compliant work practices.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and update maintenance records.

With production now underway at JDR's brand new facility in Cambois, Blyth, we've had a number of maintenance roles approved and are looking to recruit an experienced Electrical Maintenance Technician to join our team. There's still the chance to be part of our inaugural team, working with state-of-the-art machines and equipment on a continental shift pattern. JDR have recently made some exciting changes to our overall package as we seek to recruit technicians who are looking to build a long term future with us.

The Electrical Maintenance Technician will report to the Maintenance Team Leader and will be responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment within designated areas to ensure that production priorities are met and equipment performs to its optimum capacity. Equipment includes rotating equipment, stranders, extrusion lines, armourers and carousels.

The successful candidate will work to strict safety and quality requirements to ensure that the machinery used to manufacture our product is running to maximum efficiency and output. This will include total preventative maintenance (TPM) and managing breakdowns, along with responding to technical issues affecting production and maintaining electrical services through Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).

The main responsibilities of the role include:

• Safety First – promotes and adheres to JDR safety policies and procedures
• Define, plan, perform and document all maintenance activities utilising the site CMMS system and other appropriate systems
• Carry out diagnosis of faults, planned maintenance and repairs to all types of plant and equipment in a safe, timely and professional manner and return equipment to operational service
• Estimate the length of time required to complete a job and the likely consequences of failure to complete work within required timescales
• Identify and escalate any activity that has the potential to cause harm or damage
• Report breakdown root causes, equipment faults and concerns to management
• Assist in the development of planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
• Carry out PPM schedules as necessary and planned work orders as required, and provide feedback to develop the system
• Contractor management — supervise external contractors and equipment vendors, reviewing risk assessments and method statements, and completing permits and isolations utilising site LOTO procedures
• Attend training courses where necessary to ensure personal job skills keep pace with technical developments
• Proactively engage in continuous improvement activities relating to productivity and safety
• Develop, follow, review and update documentation such as maintenance plans, task lists, standard operating procedures, change control tasks, equipment service reports, risk assessments and method statements

As an Electrical Maintenance Technician, you will be time served in an electrical discipline and/or qualified to ONC, A Levels, City & Guilds Level 3, BTec National Diploma Level 3, IVQ Technician Diploma or equivalent NVQ Level 3 qualification.

A practical approach to problem solving and substantial experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is also required, along with a commercial understanding of the impact of failure and downtime on production and ultimately customer delivery.

The successful candidate will also be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and hold an understanding of lean manufacturing including the 5S process. In addition, you will be able to work under minimum supervision with the ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
