Job summary

First Military Recruitment is partnering with a refrigeration business to recruit an Electrically Biased Maintenance Engineer for a permanent role in Bury St Edmunds. Location is on-site with a Monday–Friday pattern, 8am–4.30pm and overtime opportunities. Salary around £42,000 plus benefits.

The role focuses on upkeep of internal factory plant equipment, with responsibilities spanning electrical/mechanical tasks, downtime analysis, and coordination with logistics to keep operations smooth.

Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing/processing/warehouse/cold-store experience.
• Electrical bias and time-served apprenticeship.
• Good written and oral English.
• Basic health & safety knowledge.
• Analytical skills and data literacy.
• Computer-literate with Word/Excel/Windows.

Responsibilities

• Carry out work assignments and maximise shift effectiveness.
• Demonstrate teamwork with maintenance and logistics support.
• Provide cover during breaks and absences to complete duties.
• Follow all work instructions, procedures and job descriptions.
• Complete all work orders and PMs for the shift.
• Order spare parts as needed and liaise with contractors to resolve issues.
• Record engineering downtime, quality issues and completed tasks.
• Ensure safe operations with PPE and GMP compliance.
• Instruct unskilled staff on simple equipment operations.
