Job summary

Reed Engineering & Manufacturing are seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a leading heavy engineering manufacturing operation. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving electrical systems to maximise plant availability and safety.

Key duties include PPM and reactive maintenance, fault finding on motors, drives, PLCs, and control systems, plus involvement in CI projects and capital work. Strong reading of schematics and adherence to H&S are essential.

Qualifications

• Time-served electrical engineering apprenticeship is required.
• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds / HNC or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience maintaining electrical systems in heavy manufacturing environments.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge of electrical health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on plant equipment.
• Diagnose and repair electrical faults on production machinery.
• Maintain motors, drives, inverters, PLCs, control panels, instrumentation and process control systems.
• Perform fault finding on electrical, automation and control systems.
• Support continuous improvement activities to enhance machinery performance and reduce downtime.
• Participate in breakdown investigations and root cause analysis.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and modification of plant equipment.
• Ensure all maintenance activities are completed in accordance with site health and safety procedures.
• Accurately complete maintenance records using the site's CMMS system.
• Support shutdowns, projects and capital investment activities when required.
• Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to maximise operational efficiency.
