Job summary

Wienerberger Ltd in Gilberdyke's Broomfleet site is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to keep our production lines running smoothly. You will fault-find, perform planned maintenance on electrical and electro‑mechanical plant, and program PLCs while supporting Lean practices and quality standards.

The role requires an electrically biased engineer with a minimum Level 3 qualification, strong safety awareness, and the ability to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in a manufacturing/factory environment.
  • Commitment to health and safety best practice.
  • Physically capable to perform duties.
  • Willingness to work 4 on 4 off shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain electrical & electro‑mechanical plant equipment.
  • Operate a preventative electrical maintenance system.
  • Fault find and repair electrical systems.
  • Program PLCs and other control systems.
  • Use testing equipment to locate and remedy faults.
  • Promote Lean thinking and efficiency.
  • Attend breakdowns and restore plant performance.
  • Contribute to safe systems of work (SSOW) and BSEN ISO 9001 standards.

About the role

As an Electrical Maintenance Engineer (known internally as a Maintenance Electrician) at our Broomfleet site, you will be part of our hands on inhouse team who keep the plant running by ensuring the equipment runs smoothly.

From troubleshooting to planned preventive maintenance (PPM), you will be hands‑on with specialist machinery, ensuring everything runs like clockwork. It's a dynamic role where problem-solving skills and technical expertise are used daily, and you will be a key player contributing to the efficiency and reliability of our production processes.

Our engineers have a varied role, so you’ll get the chance to use a variety of electrical skills associated with being an electrician and service engineer.

We will provide you with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to enable you to safely and effectively work as an Electrical Maintenance Engineer where you will…

  • Install and maintaining all electrical & electro‑mechanical plant equipment or machinery
  • Operating a preventative electrical maintenance system
  • Faulting finding and repairs
  • Program Siemens & other programmable logic controllers (PLC’s)
  • Use various types of testing equipment to locate and remedy faults
  • Promote Lean thinking
  • Attend breakdowns
  • Contribute to safe systems of work (SSOW) documentation
  • Adhere to Wienerberger’s quality system & standards in accordance with BSEN ISO 9001

This position is based at ourBroomfleetsite, which is nearGilberdykeand is easily commutable from Goole, Market Weighton,Hessle,and Brough.

Hours of Work

7.00am – 7.00pm (2 days) and 7.00pm to 7.00am (2 nights) on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern

About You

You will be an electrically biased engineer with experience of working in a manufacturing / factory environment, with a minimum level 3 qualification in an Electrical Engineering discipline.

Safety is our biggest priority, so you’ll be committed to safe working and have strong experience of health and safety best practice.

You’ll enjoy working in a busy environment where you can roll your sleeves up and get hands‑on and being flexible and able to adapt to the different daily priorities will enable the factory to continue to run efficiently.

As this role is sometimes physically demanding, you’ll be fit enough to perform your various duties.

  • Analytical & problem‑solving skills
  • Diagnostics experience of electrical motors and pneumatics
  • Experience and knowledge of PLCs (programmable logic controllers)
Desirable
  • 17th / 18th edition qualified (although training could be provided)
  • Completed a hands‑on apprentice training programme
  • HNC or HND qualification (or equivalent)
  • Experience in heavy industry manufacturing

  • Weekly paid
  • Basic rate: £20.00 - £24.50 per hour (based on experience)
  • Additional annual allowances: £7,500
  • Based on your working hours, and any eligible allowances and bonuses, your annual earnings will be approximately £49,475 to £56,419 (depending on experience)
