Job summary

Omega Plc is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to join a Derby site on a 3-shift pattern. The role focuses on maintaining and optimising high-speed production lines, diagnosing faults, and delivering first-time repairs to maximise uptime.

The successful candidate will have experience with Siemens S5/S7 PLCs, electrical qualification, and a continuous improvement mindset, working within a KPIdriven manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

  • Experience on high-speed production or packaging lines in FMCG/pharma or similar.
  • Electrically qualified to minimum craft level; ONC/HND advantageous.
  • Strong fault-finding on electrical and control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and optimise high-speed production and packaging equipment to maximise uptime and efficiency.
  • Lead breakdown response and deliver effective first-time repairs.
  • Plan and complete preventative maintenance in line with operations.

Job Details

Electrical Maintenance Engineer – Derby – 3 Shift Pattern – Salary £50,000 - £55,000

Shift Timings:

  • Earlies – Monday to Thursday 6:00am-2:00pm & Friday 6:00am-12:00pm
  • Lates – Monday to Thursday 2:00pm-10:00pm & Friday 12:00pm-6:00pm
  • Nights – Sunday 6:00pm-6:00am & Monday to Thursday 10:00pm-6:00am
Experience / Qualifications
  • Experience working on high-speed manufacturing or packaging lines within FMCG, food, pharmaceutical, or similar industries.
  • Electrically qualified to minimum craft level, with ONC/HND advantageous.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills on electrical and control systems.
  • Experience programming, modifying, and fault-finding PLCs, particularly Siemens S5 and S7.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC drives, inverter systems and industrial electrical installations.
  • COMPEX qualification or experience within hazardous area environments desirable.
  • 17th Edition qualification advantageous but not essential.
  • Good understanding of pneumatic and mechanical systems.
  • Strong IT and CMMS experience.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and perform under pressure.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with experience operating in KPI-driven manufacturing environments.
