Job summary

Omega Plc in Derby is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer to cover a 3-shift pattern, with a salary of £50,000-£55,000. You will diagnose faults, perform repair work and lead proactive maintenance on fast-moving packaging lines.

The role requires experience on PLCs (Siemens S5/S7), knowledge of drives, and CMMS usage. It offers structured training, career progression, and a modern manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience on high-speed manufacturing or packaging lines in FMCG/food/pharma sectors.
• Electrically qualified to craft level; ONC/HND advantageous.
• Strong fault-finding on electrical and control systems.
• Experience programming/modifying PLCs (Siemens S5/S7).
• Knowledge of AC/DC drives and industrial installations.
• COMPEX or hazardous area experience desirable.
• 17th Edition advantageous.
• Solid understanding of pneumatic and mechanical systems.
• Strong IT and CMMS experience.
• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Continuous improvement mindset in KPI-driven environments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise high-speed production and packaging equipment.
• Lead breakdown response and first-time repairs.
• Plan, execute and complete preventative maintenance per schedule.

Electrical Maintenance Engineer – Derby – 3 Shift Pattern – Salary £50,000 - £55,000

Shift Timings:

• Earlies – Monday to Thursday 6:00am-2:00pm & Friday 6:00am-12:00pm
• Lates – Monday to Thursday 2:00pm-10:00pm & Friday 12:00pm-6:00pm
• Nights – Sunday 6:00pm-6:00am & Monday to Thursday 10:00pm-6:00am

Experience / Qualifications

• Experience working on high-speed manufacturing or packaging lines within FMCG, food, pharmaceutical, or similar industries.
• Electrically qualified to minimum craft level, with ONC/HND advantageous.
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills on electrical and control systems.
• Experience programming, modifying, and fault-finding PLCs, particularly Siemens S5 and S7.
• Knowledge of AC/DC drives, inverter systems and industrial electrical installations.
• COMPEX qualification or experience within hazardous area environments desirable.
• 17th Edition qualification advantageous but not essential.
• Good understanding of pneumatic and mechanical systems.
• Strong IT and CMMS experience.
• Ability to work independently, prioritise workload and perform under pressure.
• Continuous improvement mindset with experience operating in KPI-driven manufacturing environments.
