Job summary

Kingston Barnes Ltd in Coleford is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer/Shift Electrician to join a large manufacturing site. You will perform planned and reactive electrical work, fault-finding, and preventive maintenance to maximise plant uptime.

The role requires strong knowledge of motors, PLCs and drives, with CMMS experience preferred. This is a 4 on/4 off shift pattern with excellent benefits, holidays, and career stability.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 / City & Guilds Level 3 in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Experience in manufacturing, process or industrial environments
• Strong electrical fault-finding and maintenance experience
• Experience with motors, motor control, PLCs and variable speed drives
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and preventative maintenance
• Experience using CMMS systems (SAP experience advantageous)
• Proactive problem-solving and teamwork skills

Responsibilities

• Carrying out planned and reactive electrical maintenance across the site
• Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults on manufacturing equipment
• Completing preventative maintenance schedules using the CMMS system
• Fault finding on motors, drives, control systems and production machinery
• Repairing and maintaining AC & DC motors
• Working on motor control circuits, lighting systems and electrical distribution equipment
• Supporting maintenance on cranes, compressors and other ancillary equipment
• Assisting with fault finding on hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Working safely under permit-to-work procedures and site safety systems
• Supporting continuous improvement and identifying long-term engineering solutions

Salary: £52,741 per annum + Excellent Benefits

Shift pattern: 4 on 4 off (Days & Nights) | 18‑day break every 6 rotations

The Role

As a Shift Electrician, you will be responsible for carrying out planned preventative maintenance, electrical fault finding and breakdown repairs to ensure maximum plant reliability and production uptime.

The Ideal Candidate

• NVQ Level3, City & Guilds Level3 or equivalent Electrical Engineering qualification
• 17th or 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
• Previous experience within a manufacturing, process or industrial environment
• Strong electrical fault‑finding and maintenance experience
• Experience with motors, motor control, PLCs and variable speed drives
• Knowledge of industrial electrical systems and preventative maintenance
• Experience using CMMS systems (SAP experience advantageous)
• A proactive approach with excellent problem‑solving skills
• The ability to work effectively within a shift engineering team
