Job summary

Sodexo in Manchester is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Assistant to support the facilities team in keeping hospital services running smoothly. You will fix minor electrical items, assist with repairs, and help maintain equipment, building fabric and utility services under supervision.

You’ll also advise and train new starters, document work progress, and help ensure safety and compliance across daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Previous working experience or training in skill development, including the safe use of tools and equipment.
• Basic knowledge of workshop safety practices.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write reports.

Responsibilities

• Fix minor electrical items, assist with small repairs like fitting plug tops.
• Clean light fittings, plant rooms, workshops, and machinery.
• Service and repair ward toasters and TVs as needed.
• Assist in emergencies and analyse faults, reporting to appropriate trades.
• Organise and manage daily tasks and responsibilities.
• Assist in movement of materials and equipment.
• Provide advice and demonstrate duties to new starters.
• Process timesheets and carry tablet to prioritise jobs.
• Ensure safe use and maintenance of equipment adhering to hospital policies.
• Undertake surveys, audits, and check new equipment.
• Exchange routine information with colleagues and provide work progress updates.

Electrical Maintenance Assistant at Sodexo, you will be the go to person, the one with the answers to everyone's questions, and the one who knows how to keep the facilities operating smoothly. You will be the specialist who will provide technical advice and support for the maintenance of equipment, building fabric, and utility services across the Manchester Foundation Trust Hospitalestate. What You'll Do

• Fix minor electrical items, assist with small repairs like fitting plug tops.
• Clean light fittings, plant rooms, workshops, and machinery.
• Service and repair ward toasters and TVs (pick up, repair, and return to wards if needed).
• Assist in emergencies and analyse faults, reporting to appropriate trades.
• Organise and manage daily tasks and responsibilities.
• Assisting the movement of materials and equipment.
• Provide advice and demonstrate duties to new starters.
• Process timesheets and carry tablet to prioritise Jobs.
• Ensure safe use and maintenance of equipment, adhering to hospital policies.
• Undertake surveys, audit, and check new equipment.
• Exchange routine information with colleagues and assisting providing updates on work progress. Previous appropriate working experience or training in skill development, including the safe use of tools and equipment.
• able to demonstrate a basic knowledge of workshop safety practices
• Must be able to work effectively with the minimum of supervision
• Good communication skills and the ability to deal with the exposure to emotional conditions
• Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to write reports.
