Job summary

Turntide Technologies in the UK is seeking an Electrical Machines Design Engineer to lead the design and development of advanced mechanical systems from concept through production, leveraging onsite manufacturing and testing facilities.

You will apply electromagnetics, motor physics and thermal modelling to optimise radial and axial flux machines, performing FEA and collaborating with mechanical, manufacturing and control teams to deliver detailed design reports and documentation.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering (2:2) required; Masters/PhD desirable.
• Strong understanding of electromagnetics and motor physics.
• Experience with thermal analysis and high‑fidelity simulations.
• Ability to interpret test data and relate to simulations.

Responsibilities

• Support design and optimisation of radial and axial flux machines.
• Conduct thermal analysis to enhance cooling and reliability.
• Perform electromagnetic, thermal and structural FEA.
• Support drawings, prototypes, testing and validation across phases.
• Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing and control teams.
• Develop design reports, specifications, and documentation.
• Explore new materials and cooling concepts; engage with suppliers.
• Assist with project planning, budgeting, and technical delivery.
• Support product team with market insights and customer needs.
